Why this name, ‘Monsieur Spoon’? How did the idea of creating such a place come about, and how did our restaurant develop over time?
Through these few lines we invite you to dive with us into the history of this culinary and human adventure.
A story made of encounters, travels, and shared passions, which gave birth to this unique space where every detail has been carefully thought out to evoke memories, awaken emotions and, above all, make you travel beyond borders without leaving your plate.
Who are we?
Founded in 2018, Monsieur Spoon is a destination, a culinary concept and a multicultural utopia, rooted in the small town of Nalinnes, located in Belgium, which was built through the memories of travels, adventures and
encounters that have the power to change a man forever. Or rather, to allow a man to find himself.
As a tribute to each corner of the world we have visited – from the faraway lands of Australia to the exotic alleys of Asia, these places where travelers inevitably leave a part of themselves that they will probably never find again – Monsieur Spoon is the culmination of these discoveries.
A place full of nostalgia, in which we try to recreate and glue together these pieces of ourselves scattered across the world, thus giving life to a place where we feel complete again. But above all, a place that gives us the opportunity to welcome you and share with you the emotions we have experienced during these trips.
The particularity of our establishment undoubtedly lies in its atypical and surprising aesthetic. Because if our interior reflects our travels, it especially reflects the importance we give to the artistic heritage that the different cultures of the world offer us, and in which we have had the chance to be able to completely immerse ourselves.
An architectural mix bringing back to different eras; the use of our walls as a living painting where Indian art, Sicilian sculptures, the warmth and comfort of a Finnish chalet merge; walls inside which music resonates, also adding its touch of atmosphere; and where, finally, the scent of Italian culinary flavors spreads.

Beyond the multicultural experience that we wish to offer you, Monsieur Spoon also makes it a point of honor to offer you the experience of a table service that goes beyond the simple transaction. What we want is to be able to weave with you bonds like those we were able to create with the people we met during our travels.
Monsieur Spoon wants to be the anchor of an elsewhere where our guests feel at home, the quality of our services finds its source in our family values where conviviality, respect for others, teamwork, dedication, integrity, inclusion, and authenticity prevail.
So why Mr. Spoon ?
It is also to these family values that the spoon – this image that arouses your curiosity so much – refers. The spoon is a symbol of unity linking all cultures.
This, by its historical and universal use. You may never have considered it in this way, but in our memories, the spoon is a utensil that evokes in each of us a comforting childhood memory, where being fed with a small spoon represents in our collective unconscious a gesture filled with attention, love and tenderness on the part of our elders.
And it is precisely this attention, this love, this tenderness and the opportunity for a short getaway close to home that we hope to be able to offer you during your visit to Monsieur Spoon.
Mr. Spoon is also the nickname given to its founder, Francesco Lauriola, who undertook all these trips around the world and who since 2018, thanks to the support of his loved ones and colleagues, has enabled the magic of the establishment to work.
